Redskins RB battle: Samaje Perine has power, pedigree to push past Rob Kelley

The Redskins were looking for more power and pop out of their backfield in 2017. They’re about to find it in rookie Samaje Perine with his passion and pedigree.

Washington has been looking for it since it had a young Alfred Morris. Matt Jones, the Redskins’ 2015 third-rounder, was supposed to have it, but he literally fumbled his way into the deep doghouse of coach Jay Gruden.

Since Washington transitioned from the zone-blocking scheme of the previous regime, Gruden has yet to feature his ideal downhill attack.

That capped a stressful and unsatisfying 2015 season that saw him go 4-9 with a 5.24 ERA. Yankees fans wanted the team to cut their losses and forfeit the final two years on Sabathia’s contract.

However, the setback only made the resilient Sabathia stronger.

Fast forward to the 2017 season and Sabathia has been one of the biggest surprises in MLB on a team that has been full of surprises all year long. The veteran left-hander has been one of the biggest pieces to the puzzle for a relatively young Yankees team.

Nobody thought that Aaron Judge would be leading the league in home runs and have a batting average above .300.

Consider the following possession against the Bucks. Notice Cheap NCAA Jerseys how Cheap MLB Baseball Jerseys Mirza Teletovic hedges on the pick-and-roll but isn’t able to prevent Wall from turning the corner. As a result, Matthew Dellavedova has to fight over the screen and sprint to get back in front of Wall while John Henson leaves Gortat on the baseline to protect the basket in case Dellavedova isn’t able to stop Wall in time.
