Aaron Judge continues to break records both on and off the field.
If you’re asking, “Who the (heck) is Kyle Farmer?” Sporting News presents this collection of helpful facts:
1. Farmer appeared — sort of — in the movie “The Blind Side.” The former Atlanta prep quarterback was the QB in the practice scene, at least for the action parts. His face couldn’t be shown (and he couldn’t be paid for his one-day stint) because of NCAA rules (he had signed to play baseball at Georgia). An actor had to stand in for him for part of the scene. “We were there all day and it was a grind, just like a real practice,” he told the Great Lakes Loons’ website in 2014. “And guys were just laying wood out there. The hitting was pretty intense.” Farmer said he heard his voice while watching the movie with his father.
2. He and Dodgers All-Star left-hander Alex Wood played together at Georgia: The two were Bulldogs teammates from 2010 to 2012. Wood was, naturally, a pitcher, but Farmer was UGA’s starting shortstop. The Dodgers converted him to catcher right after they drafted him in the eighth round in 2013. Fast-forward to Sunday: Wood led the charge out of the Dodgers’ dugout after Farmer’s hit and tackled his friend. “That’s probably the best hit he’s had on me in a couple of years,” he told reporters (per the Orange County Register).
“Part of this [Rodriguez] acquisition was it gives us another quality infielder, gives us some power, gives us a great guy in the clubhouse and gives us another option as we go into the offseason,” Huntington said. “Gives us some depth and versatility. If we’re able to get Kang back into the country, then we have depth. We all of a sudden become a strong lineup with a very strong bench. We’ll see how The Best Cheap Jerseys that plays out.”
Kang, 30, has 36 home runs and a .838 OPS in 229 games since joining the Pirates Vancouver Canucks Cheap Jerseys in 2015.
