Chauncey Billups reportedly pulled out of the running for the Cavaliers’ general manager job on Monday and we may now know why.
According to ESPN.com, the team offered Billups what is viewed as a below-market salary for a GM. The Cavs’ initial offer was $1.5 million would have even been low for a president of basketball operations and a starting GM salary should have been at least $4 million.
Billups’ relationship with team owner Dan Gilbert dates back Wholesale Cheap Jerseys over 10 years, as Billups endorsed Gilbert’s Detroit-based mortgage company, Rock Financial, when he played for the Pistons. Billups is also close with Cavs coach Tyronn Lue.
While it may seem as though Morrison was clamoring for his own spot in the competition, he did admit that at least one other hitter in the field — with less home runs currently than him — deserved his spot.
“(Mike) Moustakas should be there,” Morrison said. “I’m not disappointed. It’s par for the course. I play for the Rays. I get it. They can’t even get my picture right. When they put my name up there they put Corey (Dickerson’s) picture up there on MLB Network. When they put up the home run leaders they put Corey’s swing on there not mine.”
Morrison is in the midst of a career year. He has already Wholesale Jerseys NFL eclipsed his previous career-high home run total, and is well on his way of surpassing the most RBIs he’s ever had in a season as well.
The Home Run Derby is an exhibition meant to showcase the best hitters in the game, but also a competition to help fans engage. Despite his excellent season, Morrison just doesn’t have the same name appeal as the Yankees catcher he called out.
