Cowboys WR Ryan Switzer letting fans help choose new jersey number

Pereira: I don’t know. I haven’t seen all the plays yet. I think (the NFL) started to go too far when all of a sudden taking a jump shot with the ball over a goal-post became a celebration penalty because you were using the football as a basketball. Those types of things really created a lot of consternation from the fans.

I think that the ticky-tack ones (officials) will start to back away from, which they should. They just need to look at the back to the major things like the going-to-the-ground to some kind of simulated routine and those types of things and lay off the ones that just create a lot of angst in people that are watching the games. They are going to have a video they are going to show all the teams on what is and what is not (illegal).

I don’t buy what the NFL Referees Association said with “Let’s forget the referees calling penalties and just let the league fine the ones that they think are excessive.” If you do that, you are kind of encouraging people to celebrate and say, “You know what? I don’t care about the $10,000. I’m going to do this really egregious routine and it won’t cost my team the 15-yard penalty.” You take away the 15-yard penalty, you take Cheap Authentic Jerseys away one of the biggest deterrents. But it will certainly be looser, which I do think it should be.

After being picked by the Cowboys during last week’s NFL Draft, Ryan Switzer is leaving his jersey number pick up to the fans.

The new Dallas wide receiver won’t be able to wear the No. 3 jersey he sported playing in college at North Carolina, so he took to Twitter on Monday asking fans to help him choose a new number he’ll wear professionally.

Switzer, who was selected by Dallas in the fourth round on Saturday, finished his college career at UNC as the school’s all-time leader in receptions (243) and receiving yards (2,903) in addition to holding the ACC record for punt return touchdowns (seven).
